Effective date: 14 July 2026
The important bits
Jol Cam collects the information needed to run host accounts and event Jols. Hosts can view and download the photos submitted to their Jol. Albums are private to the host by default, and a host may enable a protected share link. Contributor contact details are optional. Free Jol albums are available for seven days after the event. This summary is a guide only and should be read together with the full policy below.
Information we collect
- host account information (name, email and sign-in details)

How we use information
- to provide host accounts and Jols
- to organise the photos submitted to each event
- to enforce service limits
- to process and present uploaded photos
- to provide album downloads and sharing

- to respond to enquiries

- to meet legal obligations
- to send newsletters only when you have separately opted in
Event photos, hosts and sharing
Contributors choose what they upload. The event host can view and download the photos submitted to their Jol. Albums are private to the host by default. A host may enable a protected share link, and anyone who receives that link may be able to access the album. Hosts must use event photos and contributor information lawfully.
Browser storage and service providers
Jol Cam uses essential browser storage to keep sessions working and to recognise returning contributors on the same phone. Clearing your browser data may affect recognition. Jol Cam uses technical service providers to operate the platform, and some processing may take place outside South Africa. We take reasonable steps to protect information we handle.
Retention, deletion and security
- Free Jol albums are available for seven days after the event.
- Hosts should download their albums before expiry.
- Access may end before final technical deletion is completed.
- Deleting a Jol starts permanent removal of event-owned content.
- Limited records may remain where reasonably required for security, legal obligations or routine backups.
- Jol Cam uses reasonable safeguards. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
Children, marketing and your choices
Hosts and contributors must have the permission required to upload or share photos of children. Children should not provide optional contact details without appropriate permission. Newsletter sign-up is optional and separate from joining a Jol, and consent can be withdrawn at any time.
Your rights, complaints and contact
You may ask us to access, correct or delete your personal information, object to certain uses, or withdraw newsletter consent. Send requests through the Contact page. You may also lodge a complaint with the South African Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za. This policy applies alongside our Terms of Use. We may update it as the service changes, and material updates will show a new effective date.
