The important bits
Hosts must run their Jols lawfully. Contributors must upload only photos they are allowed to share. Uploaders keep ownership of their photos and give Jol Cam only the permission needed to operate the service. Hosts can view and download the photos submitted to their Jol. A Free Jol provides 125 total shots with a 10-shot limit per phone and seven days of album hosting. Closing, expiring and deleting a Jol each have different effects, explained below.
Using Jol Cam
These Terms apply to hosts, contributors and anyone who views a shared album. Hosts must be legally able to agree to these Terms. Account information must be accurate, and account credentials must be kept confidential.
Creating and managing a Jol
- An event date is required before a Jol can be activated.
- A Jol only accepts contributions once activated by the host.
- You may create more than one draft Jol on your account.
- Closing a Jol stops new uploads.
- Reopening is only available where the service allows it.
- Expired Jols cannot be reopened.
- Deleting a Jol is permanent.
The current Free Jol provides:
- 125 total shots for the event
- 10 shots per phone or contributor session
- no cap on the number of contributors
- seven days of album hosting after the event
- a private host album
- a ZIP download of the album
Host and contributor responsibilities
Hosts must:
- run lawful events
- notify attendees appropriately that photos may be uploaded
- protect event QR codes and any share links they enable
- obtain the permission required when children are involved
- use contributor details lawfully
- download albums before expiry
Contributors must:
- upload only content they may lawfully share
- avoid unlawful or harmful content
- understand that the host can view and download their uploads
- not attempt to bypass service limits or access controls
Photos, ownership and permission
Uploaders keep ownership of their photos. By uploading, you give Jol Cam a limited, non-exclusive permission to receive, process, store, display, share through host-enabled album links, provide downloads and delete those photos as needed to operate Jol Cam. Contributors also allow the event host to view and download their event uploads. Any further use outside Jol Cam remains subject to applicable law and the rights of the people shown.
Prohibited content and removal
You may not upload or share:
- illegal material
- exploitative or sexual content involving children
- intimate images shared without the subject's permission
- threats, abuse or hate
- serious privacy violations
- malicious files
- content that infringes another person's rights
- fraudulent content
- attempts to bypass access controls or service limits
Jol Cam may remove content or restrict access where reasonably necessary. Reports can be sent through the Contact page.
Private albums and protected links
Albums are private to the host by default. A host may enable a protected share link. Anyone who receives a valid link may be able to access the album, and links can be forwarded. Hosts are responsible for controlling where their links are shared. A link may stop working when the host disables or replaces it, or when the album expires.
Hosting, closing, expiry and deletion
- Closing a Jol stops new contributions but does not delete existing photos.
- Expiry ends access at the end of the stated hosting period.
- Hosts should download their photos before expiry.
- Deleting a Jol is permanent.
- Permanent removal may involve a short technical process.
- Limited records may remain where required for security, legal obligations or routine backups.
Availability, liability and consumer rights
Jol Cam is an evolving service. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability, and we do not control every uploaded photo or every person who receives a QR or share link. Jol Cam is not responsible for loss caused solely by unlawful user conduct, unauthorised link forwarding, or failure to download photos before a clearly stated expiry. Nothing in these Terms excludes any right that cannot lawfully be excluded under South African law.
Governing law, changes and contact
South African law applies to these Terms. Please contact Jol Cam first about any dispute. We may update these Terms as the service changes, and material updates will show a new effective date with reasonable notice. Legal, privacy and content concerns can be sent through the Contact page.
